Why should I insure my reptile?

Reptile care can be both challenging and rewarding. Ensuring the best possible husbandry can take a lot of time – and you love your pet, so it’s worth it. Helping your reptile to remain happy and healthy is your top priority, and you enjoy it.

However, like us, pets can become poorly. This can lead to worry and financial strain if vet treatment is required. Planning ahead can be crucial.

Insurance is a responsible way of planning ahead for unexpected vet bills. And once set up, you can just get on with caring for your pet. Your pet insurance is there - ready in case you need it.

How much does reptile insurance cost?

Premiums can start from around £4 a month over 10 months, depending on the cover level you choose and the value of your pet.

What kind of claims do we receive?

Claims paid during 2016 have included:

  • £374 for a Leopard Gecko with impaction

What our customers say

Jayne and her black and white Tegu, Tyson.

“I recently made a claim for my black and white Tegu, Tyson. He had scar tissue in his eye which was causing problems. The situation was very concerning, and required veterinary treatment. My experience with ExoticDirect was very good. The claims process was quick and easy, and I would recommend them, which I have already done!”
